Can I schedule my appointment online even if I don't know which system to use?

Absolutely, a therapist will help you decide which system might work best for you during your session.

What is the colon? What does it do?

The large intestine, also known as the colon, measures about 5 to 5 1/2 feet in length. When functioning properly, this important organ completes the digestion of food, manufactures and absorbs certain vitamins and nutrients and also absorbs water. The remaining waste is then eliminated through bowel movements.

What is a colonic?

Colon Hydrotherapy or "colonic" is a safe, sanitary, and gentle irrigation of the colon with purified, temperature controlled water. It is an internal bath that helps cleanse the colon of accumulated fecal matter, preventing the build up of bacterial toxins and gas. A colonic is different than an enema. An enema only cleanses the lower part of the colon usually with tap water that can have chemicals and possible parasites. A colonic allows for water to enter and circulate through the entire 5 feet of colon. The water goes through several filters before entering the body.

Is a colonic painful?

Although colonics are a different sensation, most people do not experience pain.

A sensitive colon therapist will apply abdominal massage to assist the process. Many people report their colon hydrotherapy sessions as being both refreshing and relaxing.

How is it different than an enema?

An enema only reaches the rectum and lower part of the colon, whereas with colon hydrotherapy, the entire length of the colon (the large intestinal tract approximately 5 to 5 1/2 feet in length) is reached.

When would colon hydrotherapy not be appropriate for me?

If you have a concern about your health or the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy you should consult a doctor.

Contraindications for Colon Hydrotherapy:

  • Severe hemorrhoids
  • Severe cardiac disease
  • Uncontrolled hyper tension
  • Aneurism
  • Congestive heart failure

  • Is there any possibility of bacterial or viral contamination from prior use of the colon hydrotherapy equipment?

At Sione Wellness we use modern colon hydrotherapy machines which utilize pre-sterilized, disposable hoses and speculums. These disposables are used only once during a single therapy session. Properly administered, there is absolutely no danger of contamination.

How long does a treatment take?

Actual treatment time is about 40-45 minutes. The total time for most visits will be approximately 1 hour with the exception of the first visit which will take a little longer because of the paperwork involved.

How many colon hydrotherapy sessions does one need?

The number of colon hydrotherapy sessions will depend on the individual. Just as some people exercise on a daily or weekly basis to tone and tighten their outer body, some people also have their ongoing cleansing, toning and rebuilding regimen for the inner body. Colon hydrotherapy could be used as a part of any regular maintenance program.

Since the intestines of the human body are about 26 feet long, is it enough to only clean those 5 feet? Is there a way to cleanse it all?

The large intestine is between 5-6 feet. The very beginning of it is the Cecum. The Cecum has a small valve called the Iliocecal valve. This valve is a one way valve. Food/waste can only travel in one direction, and that's from the Small intestine (ileum) into the large intestine (Cecum)... and there's a very good reason for that. You see, most of your absorption of nutrients takes place in the small intestine... If water or waste went from your large intestine, (where most of the waste material is stored) back into the small intestine where most of the absorptions takes place... your body would be absorbing waste, toxic material. Typically, what most people do who are trying to address the entire digestive track do is take herbs, in conjunction with colonics.

Does having a menstrual period at the time of a colon hydrotherapy session have any effect on the treatment?

No, in fact it's usually a good time to receive a treatment, since your body is already cleansing. Your flow will not interfere with the success of the treatment.

Should I consider colon hydrotherapy if my doctor has ordered a colonoscopy?

Yes, a study out of China conducted with 700 people indicated that colon hydrotherapy is effective 98 percent of the time in preparing people for a colonoscopy.

What should I do to prepare for a colon hydrotherapy cleansing?

Refrain from eating approximately 2 hours before the cleansing; refrain from drinking carbonated drinks 24 hours prior to session; lots of water, fresh veggies, salads, and fruit is always a great practice for any healthy lifestyle; and of course, being as relaxed as possible and maintaining a positive, cheerful attitude.

Can I work directly after having a colon hydrotherapy?

Yes, you can work just as you would after a regular bowel movement.

What can I expect after my first session?

It depends – some people might feel a little more tired than normal. Some might experience a little bloating for a couple of hours. Most however, report that they feel amazing energy and vibrancy after their sessions.

    Did you know?

  • 70%-80% of our immune system resides just under the intestines.
  • 70 million Americans suffer from bowel problems.
  • Colon cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the USA.
