Warm, filtered water is gently introduced into the colon, softening and loosening waste so it can be eliminated naturally. The process is repeated several times during a session.

Is colon hydrotherapy safe?

Yes. When performed by a trained, certified therapist using FDA-registered equipment, colon hydrotherapy is very safe. At Sione Wellness Center we use only FDA-registered devices (the Angel of Water Open System and the Dotolo Closed System) with single-use, disposable speculums or nozzles for every session.

How is colon hydrotherapy different from an enema?

An enema only cleanses the lower portion of the colon (the sigmoid and rectum) using a one-time water fill. Colon hydrotherapy cleanses the entire length of the large intestine through multiple fills and releases during a 40-minute session, with filtered, temperature-regulated water and professional guidance.

Who can benefit from colon hydrotherapy?

Many people seek colonics for relief from constipation, bloating, gas, and sluggish digestion. Others use it as part of a detox or wellness routine, before or after a cleanse, or simply to support overall digestive health. Your therapist will review your health history to make sure it is appropriate for you.

Are there people who should NOT have a colonic?

Yes. Colon hydrotherapy is not recommended for people with certain conditions including active inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's, ulcerative colitis), recent colon or rectal surgery, severe hemorrhoids, rectal bleeding, kidney disease, congestive heart failure, or pregnancy. Please disclose your full health history before booking.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

For best results, eat lightly for 24 hours before your session — avoid heavy, fatty, or processed foods. Stay well hydrated with water. Avoid eating a large meal within 2 hours of your appointment. If you are prone to constipation, drinking extra water in the days before your session can help.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. You will be given a gown to change into for your session. You may want to bring a change of underwear for your comfort after the session.

How long does a session take?

A standard session is 40 minutes. Extended sessions of 60 minutes are available for the Open System (not recommended for first-time clients). Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early for your first visit to complete a health history form and consult with your therapist.

Do I need to do anything special the night before?

Accepted Answer

No special preparation is required the night before. Simply eat a light dinner, drink plenty of water, and get a good night's rest. Avoid alcohol the evening before your session.

Does a colonic hurt?

Accepted Answer

Most clients experience little to no discomfort. You may feel mild cramping or pressure as water fills the colon, similar to the urge to have a bowel movement — this is normal and passes quickly. Our therapists are trained to keep the session as comfortable as possible and will adjust the water flow to your comfort level.

Will I be embarrassed?

We understand this is a concern for many first-time clients. Your modesty is always our top priority. With the Open System you are completely alone in the room during the session. With the Closed System your therapist is present but you remain fully draped at all times. There is no odor with either system.

Question 12

What is the difference between the Open and Closed System?

Accepted Answer

The Open System (Angel of Water) allows you to be alone in the room during your session with a small self-inserted nozzle. The Closed System (Dotolo) is therapist-assisted — your therapist remains with you throughout, can perform abdominal massage, and has more control over water pressure for a more thorough cleanse. Both use disposable equipment and are FDA registered.

How much waste is actually removed?

This varies greatly from person to person depending on diet, hydration, and bowel habits. Some clients release very little on their first session while others release a significant amount. Results typically improve with subsequent sessions as the colon becomes more responsive.

What should I eat after a colonic?

Accepted Answer

Eat lightly for the rest of the day. Good choices include soups, steamed vegetables, fresh fruit, and easily digestible foods. Avoid heavy, fried, or processed foods, raw cruciferous vegetables, beans, and carbonated drinks for 24 hours. Drink plenty of water and consider adding a probiotic to support healthy gut flora.

Can I go back to work or normal activities after my session?

Yes. Most clients feel fine and return to normal activities immediately after their session. Some people feel lighter and more energetic, while others may feel slightly tired or have a mild headache — this is normal and usually passes within a few hours. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for the rest of the day.

How many sessions do I need?

This depends on your individual health goals. Many clients start with a series of 3 sessions over a few weeks to get the most benefit, then maintain with periodic sessions. Your therapist will make personalized recommendations based on your health history and how your body responds.

Is it normal to not have a bowel movement for a day or two after?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this is completely normal. After a thorough cleanse, it may take a day or two for your bowel to refill and resume its normal rhythm. Stay hydrated and eat fiber-rich foods to help things along.

How much does a session cost?

Accepted Answer

Open System sessions are $100 for new clients and $95 for returning clients (40 min.), or $115 for an extended 60-minute session. Closed System sessions are $120 for both new and returning clients.
